Adriano!
The other day in Inter v. Sampdoria (which Inter won, unfortuately) it was a pretty scrappy, sort of violent, game. At one point, Adriano punched Sampdoria player Gastaldello in the stomach when trying to get a ball from a corner kick (I think). No foul was called! :P But anyway, thanks to TV evidence, the Serie A "sporting judges" have given him a three day match ban. Tee Hee!

What I have been reading lately #13
Lemay by Barrett Tillman is part of the Great Generals Series. I am about half-way through, which takes us to 1949 and the Berlin Airlift. So far LeMay has helped perfect daylight bombing of Nazi-occupied Europe and night-time incendiary raids against Japan. Still to come - LeMay's advocacy of nuclear weapons use against north Vietnam and his vice-presidential bid as George Wallace's running mate in 1968.

Protests against the Israeli assault on Gaza spread throughout the world

What I have been reading lately #12
I am close to finishing James Chace's 1912: Wilson, Roosevelt, Taft & Debs - the Election that Changed the Country. Of the four men, three have risen in my estimation. Only Woodrow Wilson seems worse now that I know more about him. Racist, anti-immigrant, cheated on his wife, betrayed friends and colleagues just to get elected, and moralizing -- that's how Wilson comes across. Roosevelt is always amusing (who else insists on delivering a speech even though he's been shot and has a bullet in his chest?), Debs is inspiring (gotta love the Pullman Strike! - Boo, President Cleveland!), and Taft seems like a nice fat man way in over his head.
Why would Kaka want to leave AC Milan to go to Manchester City?
AC Milan is one of the world's greatest football clubs. They are owned by a maniacal singing billionaire politician. They have won multiple Scudettos, European Cups, and various other honors. They play football in one of the great European cities (so I've heard). Manchester City, on the other hand, are the second best team in their city, and are just a bunch of overly pushy striving jealous whiny babyheads. You make the call - where would you want to play?

Odd Hug!
This is Ancelotti (Milan's coach) and Spaletti (Roma's coach) hugging at the Roma- Milan game. Ancelotti has announced many times that he wants Spaletti's job. Actually, I think they are friends.
So the question is: Would you give the man who wants to steal your job a hug?

What I have been reading lately #11
This week I have been reading Stacy Sullivan's Be Not Afraid For You Have Sons in America: How a Brooklyn Roofer Helped Lure the U.S. into the Kosovo War. This book focuses on Albanian-American supporters of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the efforts they took to help supply, arm, and train the KLA. I am not sure, but the KLA may be the first guerrilla army outfitted from U.S. gun shows, army surplus stores, and Radio Shack.

Breaking News: NEXT DOCTOR!!!
There is officially, a named successor to David Tennant as the Doctor (from the BBC show, Doctor Who). *Matt Smith is going to be the elventh doctor. Matt beat out such options as a black doctor, a woman doctor, and James McAvoy. I'm sorry, Matt, but I don't imagine you can ever be as good as David Tennant or Christopher Eccleston. But this is VERY excting news. I am VERY excited!!! :D
So. Check out these links:
This one is from hours before the news was released, confirming that the doctor would NOT be a woman. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article2090491.ece
This one is from a Doctor Who news sight, telling all about this new guy. http://www.gallifreyone.com/news.php
For those of you who wouldn't have known this news without Ape Canyon's update, you can thank the Sun. If I didn't read that lovely paper online, then none of us would know!!! :D
* Just in case you are wondering, I don't know who he is either.
