Cougar Mountain - Military Road Trail

On the left is a black and yellow slug we saw while hiking on the Military Road Trail on Cougar Mountain. Below is a rather large bees' nest we saw hanging from the branch of a tree. One time a few years ago in a public park in Seattle we saw some kids wacking a bees nest with a stick. After that, we decided to leave.

Wallace Falls

Alexandra and I are just back from Wallace Falls in Wallace Falls State Park near Gold Bar, Washington. I just bought a new pair of hiking boots and wanted to try them out. The worked great, much better than the old ones.

These power lines gave off a very nice buzz, hum, crackle, and even an occasional pop.

Check out the falls in action.
